How One Simple Search Became the Beginning of Something Lifelong, Something Truly Beautiful
Welcome to Blooming Beauties Home and Garden—a quiet corner of the internet where flowers bloom slowly, rituals are rooted in intention, and healing unfolds in the soft rhythm of nature.

How a Baby Shower, a Garden Swing, and a Grandmother’s Love Started It All
Welcome to BBHG.blog — where stories bloom, traditions take root, and gardens grow more than just flowers. I’m so glad you’re here.
💫 A Baby Shower, A Swing, and a Moment That Changed Everything
The year my first grandson was about to be born, I wanted to honor an age-old Indian tradition—decorating a swing with fresh flowers for the expectant mother. It’s a beautiful, sacred ritual during a baby shower, where loved ones shower the mom-to-be with blessings and gifts, all while she sits on a floral swing, surrounded by joy, color, and fragrance.
So, I bought a garden swing for my modest backyard with the dream of creating this moment for my daughter. But when I looked for the traditional flowers we use—Marigold, Jasmine, Tuberoses, Roses—I couldn’t find them locally. I ended up importing fresh flowers from India, spending hundreds of dollars, and while the ceremony was deeply moving, something in me shifted.
“Why aren’t these flowers easily available here?”
“What if I could grow them myself?”
That day, a seed was planted—both in my heart and in the soil.
🌿 From Longing to Legacy
At that time, life was transitioning.
One child was becoming a parent, my other two were in high school, and while I had been a single mother for many years, I was yet to come to terms with the fact that my children didn’t need me anymore (or not in the way they used to when they were younger).
My mother was also preparing to move in with me for good which was a big change for us. She was used to a very active, social, independent lifestyle back in her home country, but here she would be completely dependent on me. I was concerned she would literally die of boredom and no friends than of old age. I needed to find some activity to keep her busy, engaged and happy.
I had a decent-sized backyard, and a deep desire within me to connect with my roots, build something lasting, and perhaps even create a second income to support my family. I began researching flower farming, sustainable growing practices, and the ecological impact of imported flowers.
As I slowly stepped into this new rhythm of life, I turned to books and blogs to learn the art of flower farming—how to prepare the soil, what to plant, and how to tend with care.
Also, I must mention that one singular blog became my beacon of light and lent immense insight into what to grow, when to grow, and how to grow it—not just for flowers, but for gardening in general.
These three books guided me like old friends:
– The Flower Farmer by Lynn Byczynski
– Cut Flower Garden by Erin Benzakein
– Cool Flowers by Lisa Mason Zeigler
And here’s the blog that truly illuminated my path:
Floret Flowers Blog — a generous, deeply inspiring archive of gardening wisdom.
What started as a practical idea turned into a soulful journey. I learned about no-till gardening, companion planting, building soil health, and planting in rhythm with the seasons.
Every bloom became more than just a flower—it was a connection to my culture, my children, my heritage, and my future grandchildren.
How Gardening Became My Therapy
I didn’t start gardening to ease anxiety or stress. But that’s what it gave me—quietly, gently, unexpectedly.
- The structure of seasons gave rhythm to my days.
- The humble tasks—watering, weeding, tending—offered meditative calm.
- Watching something grow from seed to bloom filled me with hope during uncertain times.
- Being outside, under the sun, hands in the soil, reminded me that healing doesn’t always come from talking—it often comes from doing.
- And most of all, gardening gave me purpose when my life was shifting.
My Mission: Blooming Beauties Home and Garden

A Garden That Keeps Giving
Today, my once-empty backyard has become a sanctuary filled with roses, herbs, buzzing bees, and cherished memories. It’s where my grandchildren play, where I find quiet in chaos, and where I continue to plant dreams.
I’m still learning. Still growing. But every flower reminds me that beauty takes time—and that healing often begins in the soil.
